Preparing for a photo shoot
Most practicing professional models often spend a lot of time in front of the mirror practicing their poses and expression. They understand that constant practice is what will keep them on top. You obviously can’t see your own face most of the day so it’s really important to know how to control your facial features at all times. When you smile, frown, or laugh you are using a certain facial muscle to produce those looks on your face. Your job is to understand how to reproduce these features at will and practicing in the mirror is the best way to do it.
The same goes for practicing poses. You’ll need to know how to curve your body a certain way if you want to look attractive. Practice different facial expressions until you learn how your face will feel. You want to master the perfect smile, which is usually considered with no gums showing and your eyes opened. As for poses, you can learn what is a good pose by looking at other models posing in magazines. Try a few out that you like and always have them ready to go when you’re out on a photo shoot. You should also have a collection of outfits.
Make sure you make a list of what clothes you will bring to your photo shoot. Pick out the style and color. You’ll want to add accessories and shoes to the list as well. There may be props you can bring with you depending on what the photo shoot is. You’re going to have to shave or wax your legs and armpits before the audition photo shoot as well. If you’re going to be modeling with some more open skin make sure you wax about four days ahead before the shoot. This is so we allow enough time for any irritation that may occur to vanish. You may have to get your roots done if you color your hair so that it looks vibrant again. If you need to get your nails then just keep it short and neutral.
