How to become a Model
So you want to become a fashion model.
How do you get started?
Follow these steps to stardom.
Go online and pick out agencies. Then go to the Better Business Bureau’s website, and check to see if anyone has filed any complaints with the agencies you picked out.
Now when you find some more reputable agencies that you are involved in you can go to their websites or give them a ring to find out where to actually send the photos.
Most agencies will give an email address you were you can mail the photos to. Agency’s that ask for money up front are a scam. You’ll have to learn how to spot a real agency from a scam. Have someone take photos of you.
Take a handful of different photos. This means you’ll want to take full body shot in tight fitting clothing, a headshot, and a bathing suit shot. Also, include your age, stats, height, weight, hair color, sizes, eye color, and etc. along with your photos.
Now you can send them off to all of the agencies you are interested in. Professional photos are not necessary until the agency actually signs you. If a particular agency likes you they will call you for an interview. Dress nicely for the interview and bring with you a planner and pen to write things down. They will want you to have professional shots taken because they cannot book you for the job with poor quality photos and they also will need to create your comp cards. The comp card will be the best marketing tool a model can have. It is usually a 5 x 7 inch card with a photo of you on the front and four photos of you on the other side along with your stats on the back. You will be assisted in the process.
When clients are booking models, your agency, on your behalf will mail out your comp card along to anybody else who are seeking to hire models. This entire process will take around 2-3 months. When all of this is finished you will begin to book jobs and attend some casting calls your agency sends you to. It is imperative to stay fit so your stats don’t change for the worse.
