It’s considered a type of resume for the modeling world to express the range of looks a model may possess.  What usually constitutes an acceptable portfolio is that the shots provide and convey the versatility of the model.  An experienced photographer will not only enhance the chance of breaking into the fashion industry but will also gives you valuable experience. Like always make sure you are careful for photographers trying to execute a modeling scam  on you.  Since the portfolio is so important to your entry into the modeling world, it has to be dealt with very carefully. It should emphasize your attractiveness, expressions, emotions and versatility. Its important to only show your best work because you are only as good as your worst photo. Have a good idea of what you want and what you can afford before approaching a photographer to hire them to create images for your portfolio. Discuss with the photographers what kind of image you are trying to convey. Communication is important in creating a portfolio that you will be proud to show off. Start with a variety of images from one photographer and go on from there.<br />

The model portfolio should be well prepared and visually engaging. Loose slides, loose photos, cut up contact sheets, and torn or bent photos are signs of a poor portfolio presentation. Just like how a CPA wouldn’t show his resume on wrinkled paper, you should not have a sloppy portfolio. Since a portfolio is a representation of you, you’ll have to make it a give you a long lasting good impression.

The portfolio should have between 8 and 20 shots of you or work that you’re in. Your portfolio should have a variety of combination of head shots and a poses, including, full body shots and half body shots.  You’ll need to make sure you properly prepare for your photo shoot ahead of time of that you can build a strong portfolio.
