Victoria Secret Model Search

How to become a model for Victoria’s Secret? That’s the question of many aspiring models and young girls from every city on the planet.

VS model search

Many wonder if models are selected through a model search or are auditions held for Victoria’s Secret. Well, the answer is both. Victoria’s Secret does a model search and holds auditions and casting calls for Victoria’s Secret Angels before the shows. Unfortunately for most unknown and aspiring models, the Victoria’s Secret casting calls are not open auditions. The tryouts to be an Angel are done by invitation only and usually only top models get selected to even tryout for the show.

However, sometimes they do make an exception and in 20019 Victoria’s Secret held a model search to find a new angel. The winner of the model search was Kylie Bisutti.

Before you become a Victoria’s Secret model or ‘Angel’, you would first have had to have a good amount of modeling experience, a modeling agent and a reputation on the cat walk.

Victoria’s Secret has been responsible for making many young models into international stars. Who doesn’t know the name Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum? Not many.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is the most watched fashion show on television. Every year millions tune in to watch the tall, models walk the catwalk and every model on the stage and in the show is close to supermodel status.

Some of the current Victoria’s Secret models are almost household names. Current Victoria’s Secret Angels include such supermodels as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman, and Behati Prinsloo. Past Angels include Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum, both of who have very popular shows of their own.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is such a high profile event that top models are selected every year to perform in it.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is such a huge and lavish event that costumes in the form of very elaborate lingerie are designed just for the show and it includes the well known million dollar bra of diamonds that one lucky model gets to wear in the show. The fashion show has been going since 1995 and has been televised since 2000. In every show one lucky VS model wears a bra that is worth 1 million plus with the most expensive being 12.5 million in 2001 worn by Heidi Klum.

The music for the show always features top music artists and world famous entertainers. Pat performers at the show have included Justin Timberlake, Akon, Katy Perry, The Spice Girls, Will.i.am, Usher and Kanye West.

The fame does not stop on the runway. Hundreds of top stars attend the event and the red carpet before the show is a whose who of entertainment with movie stars, pop stars, and famous people galore.

If you want to become a model for Victoria’s Secret, you will first have to become a model as Victoria’s Secret rarely hires newbies or unknown models. You will need to find a modeling agency to represent you and land a few high fashion modeling assignments.

Since Victoria’s Secret is a lingerie company, the models they hire a usually a bit curvier than other high fashion models, Tyra Banks is a good example of a curvier model.

Sorry petite girls, they do have the high fashion height requirements and most VS models are 5’8″ or taller. So if you want to know where to begin, the answer is with a good agency who will send you out to the tryouts and the Victoria’s Secret model search.
However, there is always a chance that VS will do another national model search to find the newest angel and maybe 2012 is the year! Lets keep our fingers crossed and an eye out for the press release.

America’s Net Top Model Tryouts 2012

ANTM Cycle 19 is now casting!

CW just announced that the Tyra Banks modeling competition, Top Model is currently looking for aspiring models to be contestants on the show.

Tryouts for Top Model take place 2 times a year and February and March 2012 is the time to apply for cycle 19. Cycle 19 is looking for models 5’7″ and above who are 18 and older. This cycle they are also looking for plus size models that have the same height restriction which is 5’7″ and above.

Unfortunately, ANTM cycle 19 will not be accepting petite models like other cycles have done in the past. I know many girls have been asking for a petite cycle, but it does not look like 2012 will be the year of the petite model. At least not where Tyra Banks and America’s Top Model is concerned.

As always, the show has great prizes for anyone that makes it on, the girls get photoshoots galore and a makeover while on the show. The show’s winner also gets a hefty modeling contract which is said to be valued at $100,000.

Cycle 19

So far a dozen plus cities and towns have been added to the schedule and more may be added to the casting schedule as time goes on. Casting directors for the show will be traveling to many different places in the next 2 months and locales on the list are Peoria, IL; San Diego, CA; Ashland, Kentucky; Montgomery, Alabama; Columbia, South Carolina; Odessa, Texas, Lubbock, Texas; Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tallahassee, Florida, Columbus, Richmond and Portland, ME.

Looks like the casting team will spend quite some time in the South and Midwest. We are hoping that Eastern and Northern locations get added soon as there are aspiring models all over the U.S. that would love a chance to audition for Top Model 2012!
